Roman Reigns Demoted to NXT
WWE Superstar to Return to Developmental Promotion
In an unsurprising turn of events, meteorically rising WWE superstar Roman Reigns has been called back down to NXT, for what WWE have stated to be a “rejuvenation of his career”. Despite winning this year’s annual Royal Rumble match, and competing in the main event of WrestleMania 31 alongside former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, higher-ups at the company have deemed Reigns “not ready” for the main event scene.
Reception to the decision has been mixed; those within the company believe that this is the correct course of action following the conclusion of WrestleMania, and the Raw following, wherein Reigns was booed despite being the face going into the match. Fans, whilst surprised, are also welcoming of the move.
“This is great for Reigns. He can give the rub to younger talent like Kevin Owens whilst giving those at Full Sail some nostalgia by seeing their favourite return”, says user Samaconda.
