Sheamus to Return at WrestleMania?

Is Sheamus Returning in the Battle Royal or the Ladder Match?

According to the infamous Reddit insider MetsFan4Ever, former three-time World Champion Sheamus is scheduled to make his… “long anticipated” return on the Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania. As it stands, two scenarios are being considered for the Irish brawler’s return; the first being as a surprise entrant in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, or the ARMBAR for short. The second option would be for Sheamus to return as a surprise entrant into the Intercontinental Title Ladder Match, already featuring seven superstars.

The idea would be, during the match, Sheamus would spark up the storied rivalry between himself and Daniel Bryan, which has led to such classic WrestleMania matches already. This would potentially be a feud over the Intercontinental Championship itself, depending on who wins that Ladder Match.

I noted the other day that with Brock Lesnar very close to signing a new deal there was a big idea being tossed around that Lesnar would keep the WWE championship and John Cena would win the U.S. title while Daniel Bryan wins the I.C. title with both guys able to elevate the title back to “top of the card status”.
Well as of 20 minutes ago I have been told another idea being tossed around is for Sheamus to return as a surprise entrant in the I.C. title ladder match. The expectation is that Sheamus will be heavily cheered upon his return but will show “heelish” signs throughout the match. At some point Sheamus would cost Bryan the match and capitalize on it by winning the I.C. title.
This would lead to a main event program with a heel Sheamus vs a face Daniel Bryan at all house shows, Raw, SmackDown and PPVs for the foreseeable future.
Edit: While this is a rumor, it is less likely to happen then the other rumor I posted a few days ago. But it is something that is still being discussed.

Editor’s Note: As a non-fan of Sheamus, I feel as though it is my duty to tell everyone why the second scenario would be a terrible idea for everyone on the face of the planet. Were Sheamus to return in a match that he has had zero build for, in the process rendering the past month of build for the match irrelevant and meaningless, it would spell out a grim fate for all of the participants; they spend several segments stealing the belt, only for the random Irish guy to come in and make them all look like chumps who can’t manifest anything from the momentum they’ve been building in his absence.

And of course it goes without saying that, should Sheamus and Bryan have a yet another feud (for a championship or otherwise), no one would be invested in it. It would be on-par with another John Cena and Randy Orton match in terms of fan interest; we’ve already seen what comes out of a storyline between these two, and it’s rarely substantial for either man. One could call it a shameful fate.
