Rumoured WrestleMania 31 Matches

After Roman Reign’s winning the Royal Rumble, so far the only match set in stone, and being advertised is Reigns vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

However, two more matches are reportedly locked backstage as well for this years mega event. These are:
– Sting vs. Triple H
– John Cena vs. Rusev

Sting having a match at WrestleMania has been discussed for years, but with his signing to the company in 2014, this years event looked the most promising for the WCW Legend to make his WWE in ring debut. With his involvement with the Authority storyline at Survivor Series back in November, fans guessed it would have been against Triple H from the get go and it looks like we guessed correctly. Expect it to be announced at FastLane or in the coming weeks.

John Cena vs. Rusev is one that also isn’t too surprising. Rusev is being built as a major heel, even being last eliminated in the 2015 Royal Rumble. On top of that it has already been announced that Cena vs. Rusev is confirmed for FastLane next month. This means that WrestleMania’s match could likely add some sort of stipulation.

The following matches are being internally discussed, but could always be changed:
– Bray Wyatt vs. The Undertaker
– Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan
– Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton

The Wyatt/Taker match is something fans have been desperate to see since Wyatt’s main roster debut back in late 2013, but this match is completely dependent on Undertaker wanting to be apart of the event, or even if he is physically able to perform.

Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan seems like it’s a match the company has wanted to revisit for a number of years. Sheamus and Bryan both wrestled each other in a dark match at WrestleMania 27, and was considered a great match by those in attendance. WWE put the two together again at the next years event, WrestleMania 28, resulting in one of the shortest matches in WrestleMania history.

And the Rollins/Orton match could very well be Orton’s big in-ring return after months of being away.

(Editor’s Note: I said this on an edition of The Suplah, but I’d rather see Sting go against nearly anybody besides Triple H. I always thought Sting vs. Wyatt would have created one of the most interesting feuds in recent memory, but if they are persisting for Sting to face The Authority then it should have been Sting vs. Seth Rollins. Sting has been shown that he is willing and able to give a rub to younger guys during his TNA run. Why stick him with Triple H? Wasted opportunity.)
