ICW/Progress to The WWE Network?

Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently reported that WWE will be going into business with Scotland’s ICW promotion, and England’s Progress promotion.

CFO George Barrios strongly indicated that the company would be working with ICW and Progress in the U.K. There are deals in place for both where they would be on the WWE Network as soon as Vince gives the okay.

Rumours that ICW and Progress shows will be airing on the WWE Network has been abound since the start of the year. At WrestleMania access this past April, both UK promotions were invited to participate and put on matches exclusively for the live audience.

Adding to all this, during the UK Championships specials that aired on the Network recently, Pete Dunne came to the ring with his Progress World Title on display.

With WWE expanding further into the United Kingdom, in hopes to develop a weekly program, this could mean that WWE will use talent from both companies roster, as well as feature the two organisations on their popular network service.

Realistically though, even if McMahon gives the okay to spotlight ICW and Progress on the network, it won’t happen over night. Both companies have an extensive video library, with unlicensed music by pop artists that will have to be edited out. But hopefully, we will see it debut by the end of the year.

Are you excited for the idea of WWE opening it’s services to other companies? Do you think this is the start of something special? Or the beginning of the end for British independent wrestling? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
