WWE Trainer Fired for Drug Use

In some breaking news, something that nobody saw coming, WWE Performance Center trainer and former multiple time WWE Tag Team Champion Billy Gunn has been fired, after testing positive for PEDs.

According to F4WOnline, Gunn (real name Kip Sopp) failed a drug test over the summer. This occurred whilst Gunn was competing in a powerlifting event, and as such has resulted in Gunn’s suspension from powerlifting for four years. Apparently, WWE officials didn’t even know he was competing in these powerlifting events until a few weeks ago.

Billy Gunn has been a big part of the backstage environment of WWE in recent years, serving as a trainer for the latest series of Tough Enough, and as a leading figurehead in NXT. Gunn appeared with Road Dogg as the New Age Outlaws at this year’s Royal Rumble event, facing The Ascension in a often-forgotten match. The team also had a run with the Tag Team Championships last year.

In terms of backstage dynamics, this has to change a lot. Gunn was reportedly well-liked, and his departure will leave a big hole to fill. Oh, you didn’t know they drug tested trainers? Now’s the time for another semi-relevant name from the 90’s to “take a spot”. I guess he better call somebody… to get some welfare.

Had to get that out of the way. Whilst this is definitely unfortunate news, Gunn obviously knew what he was doing at the time, and that his mistake would have repercussions if discovered by WWE. You reap what you sow, and it’s the case that Gunn did just that.
