This past week, on the first SmackDown Live following the Superstar Shakeup, a new number one contender for Randy Orton’s WWE Championship needed to be crowned. In a six-pack challenge to determine Orton’s next opponent, Jinder Mahal outlasted five other superstars to earn a shot at the WWE Championship.
Mahal’s first ever championship opportunity in WWE, and his first singles win in WWE since October 2012, came to fruition when the Cruiserweight tag team The Bollywood Boyz assisted Mahal in pinning Sami Zayn. In other news; “Broken” Matt Hardy might be seen in WWE in the future, after Dave Meltzer reports that WWE wants to wait for the TNA/Impact/Anthem lawsuit involving the “Broken Universe” IP to subside, before introducing it to the current WWE product. Will we also see Brother Nero, or will Jeff Hardy remain a singles star to compete on Raw for various championships?
