Dusty Rhodes Passes Away At 69

Today is a very sad day for many wrestling fans, as NWA Legend and WWE Hall of Famer Virgil Runnels, otherwise known as “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, has passed away at the age of 69.

Virgil became extremely popular with wrestling fans for being one of the most charismatic characters to ever step foot in the ring or pick up a microphone. Even when covered in yellow polka-dots and dancing around, everyone was a fan of Dusty Rhodes. Not only that, but Runnels was the father of Cody Rhodes (Cody Runnels), and Goldust (Dustin Runnels).

Even when Virgil retired from in-ring competition, he dedicated his time to improving the WWE in many ways. Dusty Rhodes was the first General Manager for NXT once it became the official developmental territory of the WWE in 2012. Even after resigning from this position, Virgil was a member of WWE’s creative team, writing storylines and helping to develop characters for WWE programing.

Virgil Runnel has been very influential in the world of wrestling, and our condolences go out to his friends and family.
