UPDATE: WMC Action News 5 have released an interview conducted with Jerry Lawler, who is currently spending time in jail. Lawler reveals more details regarding the incident, saying that upon his return from a local wrestling event, he found finacee Lauryn McBride drunk, following a NBA Finals Game 6 party she attended with friends.

“When she drinks, we get into a little bit of a shouting match and then she wants to leave. I was not going to let her leave in the car, because she was not in any condition to drive. She got more and more upset.”

Lawler continues that McBride was intoxicated when she told him that “she knew where the gun was”, threatening suicide.

“It’s an unfortunate situation as a result of someone drinking too much. I’m saddened by it and hope we can get past this.”

More details will be posted as they come.

WWE Hall of Famer Arrested for Domestic Violence Alongside Fiancee

In a bout of surprising news, WWE Commentator and Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler has been arrested and suspended from the WWE, due to domestic violence charges. Both Lawler and his fiancee Lauryn McBride were arrested in Memphis, early Friday morning – both were taken in after the Police were unable to determine the root of the couple’s troubles.

According to WFSB.com, the pair entered into a violent argument, escalating to the introduction of a firearm and physical violence from both sides. Lawler is said to have held McBride against a kitchen counter, hit her in the head, pushed her against a stove, and ended it by putting a gun on the kitchen counter, and telling her to kill herself.

On the other side of the argument, however, Lawler says that McBride lied about where she had been recently, leading to the argument. Lawler went on to say that McBride scratched him in the face, threw a candle at him, and even kicked him in the groin – this also amongst the claims that she was drunk, and threatening to kill herself.

Judging by the mugshots, we could determine that McBride might have assaulted Lawler, but we cannot confirm these allegations until the Memphis Police department get a higher-quality camera.

WWE have issued a statement on the indefinite suspension against Lawler on their website;

WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest.

This is the second case of domestic violence in as many months to strike the WWE, with the first being Adam Rose’s unfortunate situation. Rose was suspended for a wellness policy violation, which was heavily disputed by Rose himself, arrested for a case of domestic violence, and later released from his contract after requesting his release.

With this in mind, it’s hard to determine what exactly will happen to Lawler. Whilst he has a high-standing within the company, being a Hall of Famer and current commentator for SmackDown, that didn’t prevent the blacklisting of Hulk Hogan from all WWE programming, a notion still loosely applied a year on from the incident. Another thing to remember is that commentators in the WWE aren’t exactly few and far between; Lawler’s role of the heel colour commentator can be filled by Corey Graves, if push comes to shove.

Essentially, it’s only a matter of time before we find out more details – Suplah.com will be updating this article with any new developments, should they arise. In the mean time, leave a comment below discussing the news: will Lawler be fired over this, or are we just experiencing some tough times to be forgotten about later? Let us know your thoughts.
